Work Out to Get Energized
By Jacob Grimes, Marketing WriterIn a recent online Campus Recreation website poll, Texas State students were asked what their top reasons for working out at the Student Recreation Center were. Responses included everything from reducing stress and increasing endurance and flexibility to becoming more attractive and to see and be seen. The top three responses were: 1) 23% said to feel healthy and energized, 2) 20% desired weight loss, and 3) 18% wanted muscle gain. Campus Recreation helps students achieve these health and wellness goals within seven program areas: Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Recreation, Informal Recreation, Fitness & Wellness, Aquatics & Safety, and the Texas State Golf Course.
Typically students should try to get at least seven hours of sleep a night. Secondly, it is important to maintain a healthy diet. Consume moderate portions of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains and fish. Diets like these provide fiber, good carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, protein, and omega-3 which raise energy levels, encourage weight loss, and help build lean muscle .
